While not much is known about Nyxeris, nor the extent of her operations for the Shadow Broker on Illium, it is worrying that she was able to infiltrate Liara's inner circle so effectively. Should Liara return home before either of these outcomes is achieved, Nyxeris will be seen walking off screen and never appear again. If the data could not be decrypted correctly, the misinformation will cause the meaningless death of one of the suspects, and Nyxeris will remain undetected. Liara will promptly execute Nyxeris upon discovering her treachery, citing her skill, but still noting that she should have practiced more with her barriers.

Those who gather enough evidence will discover that Nyxeris is the Observer. Upon reporting this information to Liara, the identity of the Observer is revealed as Nyxeris herself.

Should the data logs be successfully decrypted, it is discovered that none of the suspects match the information gathered about the Observer. Given that the Broker's agents are only specified by race, Shepard must comb through data logs locked behind firewalls to claim the information needed to complete the quest.

At the beginning of the mission, Liara's assistant Nyxeris will lay out a series of suspects that are believed to be the Observer.
